DESCRIPTIONS:

1. TO FORGIVE OR NOT TO FORGIVE: IS THERE REALLY A CHOICE? February 3 and May 4, 2011: Forgiveness has been historically believed to be necessary for healing. The last 30 years have brought about changes in the traditional perspectives. In this workshop, we will examine the possible choices of forgiveness and their repercussions. The positive and negative aspects of revenge will be considered along with abuse and forgiveness. This workshop will offer valuable information for both your professional and personal growth. 5 core hours. $95 ($110 after 1/20 and 4/20/11). Nancy Hickman, LCSW

2. QUESTIONING ASSUMPTIONS: LEARNING TO THINK CRITICALLY: February 24 and June 1, 2011: Critical thinking skills are required of everyone in the helping professions. The complexities of the situations, problems, and dilemmas our clients and patients face frequently have no simple, definitive answers or solutions. Critical thinking skills help us make better decisions that result in better outcomes for our clients and patients. This topic will define and describe critical thinking skills; explain the need for these skills; and present several tools and techniques for sharpening one’s own critical thinking skills as well as helping other professionals (such as supervisees and students) develop their own critical thinking skills.

3. MARRIAGE, DIVORCE AND THE MEDIA: HAS DIVORCE BEEN TOTALLY NORMALIZED? March 9 and May 18, 2011: This workshop will consider the influence of Hollywood and other forms of media (such as the internet) on divorces. Movies such as Eat, Pray, and Love will be discussed along with An Unmarried Woman and Kramer vs. Kramer. The influence of the internet and the use of pornography will also be examined and their influence considered. 4. BAD HABIT OR ADDICTION: DEFINING AND CHANGING ETHICALLY. March 30 and June15, 2011: This workshop will include a discussion on how reward centered habits can lead to addiction. Effective behavioral treatment approaches in the field of addiction will also be considered. The content will include information about cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, and contingency management strategies. Finally, the workshop will discuss common ethical dilemmas within the field of addiction. 3 core and 2 ethics hours. $95 ($110 after 3/16 and 6/1/11). Mary Ablett, LCSW

5. THE ETHICS OF TENDER LOVING SELF CARE (TLSC): April 13, and June 29, 2011: It is critical and ethical that, as health care professionals, we care for our own good mental and physical health. In this workshop we will not only talk about it, we will practice. We will discuss the ethics of self care. A massage therapist will give a few chair messages and talk about the importance of relaxation. Other topics will be discussed including the importance of laughter, self hypnosis, and different forms of relaxation. REFUND POLICY:
Refund requests received prior to two week before the workshop will be refunded minus a $25 processing fee. Any refund requests received less than two weeks prior to the workshop will be refunded $25.

From GA-400 North
Take GA-400 S. Pass the toll. Take the Sidney Marcus Blvd exit, exit number 1 towards Piedmont Rd/Lenox Rd and turn left at the end of the ramp. Make a second left onto Buford Hwy NE/Buford Highway connector NE/GA-13 N. Turn right onto Lenox Rd NE. Lenox Rd NE becomes Cheshire Bridge Rd NE. Turn left to take the I-85 North ramp towards Greenville. Merge onto I-85 N/GA-403 N. Take the Clairmont Rd NE/US-23/GA-155 exit. Make a right at the first light. Make a right onto Briarcliff Rd NE.
After you make the turn onto Briarcliff, you will pass a driveway to a grocery store on your left. After the grocery store, on your left you will see a black iron fence at the end of the fence will be a second driveway and this is where you want to turn left. You will know that you have turned into the correct driveway if you see a large iron gateway and in the distance, a green awning over a door with the word “choir” written on it. You will see a parking lot on your left, you can park your car in the first two levels and come in the door with the awning over it. The room where we are meeting is just down the hallway-follow the signs. Overflow parking is on the other side of the church. Don’t attempt to come in another door and find the workshops as no one will be there to direct you.

From I-85/75N From the South
Take I-85/75 N through downtown. Continue to keep straight on I-85 once the two interstates split. Take the Clairmont Rd NE/US-23/GA-155 exit. Make a right at the first light. Make a right onto Briarcliff Rd NE. See above second paragraph for further directions.

From I-85S From the North
Take I-85 S. Pass over I-285. Take the Clairmont Rd NE/US-23/GA-155 exit. Make a left at the first light onto Clairmont Rd. Make a right onto Briarcliff Rd NE. See above second paragraph for further directions.

From East and West 1-20
Come I-20 to 85 N. Follow and use the above directions for from I-85/75N. See above second paragraph for further directions.

From 285
