Questioning Assumptions: Learning To Think Critically

Critical thinking skills are required of everyone in the helping professions. The complexities of the situations, problems, and dilemmas our clients and patients face frequently have no simple, definitive answers or solutions. Critical thinking skills help us make better decisions that result in better outcomes for our clients and patients. This topic will define and describe critical thinking skills; explain the need for these skills; and present several tools and techniques for sharpening one’s own critical thinking skills as well as helping other professionals (such as supervisees and students) develop their own critical thinking skills.
